When Gillrange took over from the previous contractor in 2008, consultation with the Quarry Manager quickly revealed that fragmentation and diggability was a big concern.

We realised that hole angles and diameters employed by the previous contractor were not being utilised optimally. After some methodical changes in this area the situation improved which in turn led to better diggability and less time spent on secondary breaking which led to less money being spent by the site in this area.
